Instructions for My Mother College Essay Examples

Title: indicate a person who has had a significant influence on you and describe the influence

Total Pages: 1 Words: 372 Sources: 0 Citation Style: None Document Type: Essay

Essay Instructions: My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 10 years old. Watching her go through all the agonizing treatments and emotional pains left a scarring impression on me. My mother always told me that I was the inspiration for surviving through those days. However, now that I am older and on my way to adulthood, what my mother went through serves as an inspiration to me as I have to overcome my own challenges.

As a foreign student, some of my challeges include coming to study in the US when I was 14, learning a new language, getting to know a new culture, going to a new high school, new friends, being away from my family and trying to make good grades in order to go to a good college.

Title: UC's first Admission prompt

Total Pages: 2 Words: 637 References: 0 Citation Style: MLA Document Type: Research Paper

Essay Instructions: Prompt #1 (freshman applicants)
Describe the world you come from — for example, your family, community or school — and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations.

Here is my background:
I was grown up in a single family. My parents divorced by the time I come to America. I was twelve years old when I came to America. I didn’t know any English at all. My teachers are my mentors who helped me to learn and understand English. In the beginning I can only know the meaning from the pictures. I was afraid to talk and I was shame when the people asked about me. I locked my self in my small world. I felt the life was so dark. Just for me, my mom had to work night shift, due to not enough sleep, the wrinkle appeared on her head, but she is very cheerful in our life. She took me to the church on Sunday, and jog in the park on Saturday morning. She encouraged me for any step achievement. I was told myself in my deep hart, I have to study hard and behave in everything to make her proud of me. I want to be real man. I became very brave to present my idea, try to answer any question in the class. A few months later, I was out of ESL class. I can struggle and fight inside to change my early school life in America. And now, I am able to receive As in my English classes in high school.

Above is my background information. I think in order to grad the admission officer’s attention, I suggest you to create a scenario where the English language creates an obstacle to me in my academics. I think you can add like a story of me doing an English project like presentation or play when I first came to America after my description of my mother. And I am required to memorize lines for like a play. During the presentation, I am shy, scared, and lacking the skills to express the right gestures for my character. Say for example, the play is Romeo and Juliet. After the play, include that I was embarrassed by the event. Therefore, I went to take public speaking classes to help my communication skills.

Towards the end of my essay, I believe you should add something like perseverance and inspiring conclusions! Or better yet, you can create anything that coheres and ties to the essay as a whole. Remember “tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations.” I think that is the key to conclude my essay. Thank you!

Essay Instructions: Prepare and conduct interviews with two people about their definition of happiness, how they gained this view, and whether they feel happiness is achievable.
Choose two people who vary in age and experience. Only one of the subjects can be someone you know well. This is an opportunity to learn about acquaintances and strangers as well. These should be face-to-face interviews.
Introduce this project by introducing each subject one at a time. Who are they? What is the nature of your relationship?
Next, ask a variety of questions to get them to consider not just their definition of happiness, but its origins and development. You can use these sample questions to get you started, but should add more questions or change the interview as it develops: Has your definition of happiness changed over time? What experiences have influenced your definition? Do you expect the definition to change again?
Follow the Unit 7 template for this project in DocSharing. It includes submitting a transcript of your interviews, including your questions, so take notes or record the discussion.
Finally, you should draw conclusions about the process and the answers that were given. Compare and contrast the results of the interviews. Discuss what was similar or different in the replies, whether the subjects were honest, or if the concept of happiness was difficult to define.

The first person that I interview is my mother who is 72 years old married for 45 plus years and three children. Oldest daughter passed away when she was 28 due to kidney failure and its complications.
The second person to interview is a coworker in the health care industry. Her profession is in nursing for a medical surgical unit in a hospital.
Please make sure that the essay is in APA format and about 5 pages in total.
I am also attaching the template for the paper
Thanks
